impending doom

posted on May 18th, 2008.

My 8 weeks of accelerated school hell begins tomorrow. Hopefully the first week will be easy–I honestly have no idea what is going on because the nursing department is all messed up right now. People quit, people got fired, nobody is handling our schedules correctly, so it all should be a friggin blast. My pumpkin muffin kindly purchased some fresh school supplies for me today at office max. New binder, fancy dividers, folders, notebook paper, yum.

I also did my ceremonial pre-semester apartment cleaning this morning. It basically involved me freaking the fuck out because everything was a mess. One thing led to another, and we now have a completely clean bathroom and rearranged kitchen. I will say it for the millionth time, I cannot wait to move out of here. We have one more month!!

So listen, I really need (ok not need…but desire) a new digital camera.

I’m still using the one I got my senior year of highschool (four years ago!) and it is a BEAST. (see below)
BEAST

I really don’t need anything fancy, and Kyle is not a big fan of my “need” for a new camera. So I am bidding on this one on ebay right now. Thoughts?

I couldn’t find much in the way of ‘highly reccomended’ reviews for this camera - most people say ‘it’s ok, but pictures were blurry’ …

this is the clearest review about it:
This camera was very attractive from the exterior and functionality side however I was very disappointed once I brought the images up on my computer screen. Of about 100 photos, only 10 were crisp and sharp. Very disappointing! The 100 photos were taken in optimal natural lighting on a sunny clear day and also indoors. Everything else with the camera is great as far as size, features, etc I just wish the images (most important part) were better. Despite the $30 restocking fee and possible $40 loss on the XD memory card if non refundable - I will be returning this. Will most likely go over to the Canon Digital Elf which I should have just spent the extra $30 for from the beginning.

my wife has a comparable ‘canon powershot SD1000 (Ixus 70) :

and personally from our experience with it, some of her outside shots are as good as ones from my DSLR when printed at 6×4 or 5×7 …
though one minor drawback is, i don’t think your Ye-Olde camera has SD memory, so you’d need to get a new 2GB or larger card… which would hold 400 ish images…

ok, so that’s my 15 cents

I have a Cannon Powershot. its a little bulky but takes awesome pictures and video. the one your looking at is a decent brand so I wouldn’t see it being a problem for casual digital pictures.
