2 weeks

Sorry if this blog temporarily becomes a redundant listing of counted weeks, redundant posts about waiting…waiting…waiting. Actually, I guess if you’re still here, that’s basically what you’ve been reading for the last 8 months. It’s just a little different now. Anyhow, today I am exactly 2 weeks postpartum. I’ve lost 27 miraculous pounds. A few days ago (Friday the 13th!), my precious baby girls moved from isolettes into open bassinets. It’s weird to walk into their hospital room and see them wrapped up like little biscuits and laying out in the open. So far, they’ve been doing great with their temperature regulation. Audrey is about 4 lbs…Paige still just under 4. Both have developed matching diaper rashes (already…ahhhhhh).

Our weather forecast looks like complete hell for the next 10 days. Like much of the country, we’ve been inundated with rain which generally makes for a tired and sort of “down” atmosphere. I had some miraculous burst of recovered energy this morning, waking up with little pain. This led to an afternoon of laundry, organization, and the start of a bathroom remodel (courtesy of my husband and brother-in-law). I probably pushed it too hard with all the laundry and stair climbing, because my incision kills now. But with the rain and gloom, it’s good to feel like you’ve been productive at the end of the day. It’s about time to wind down, eat dinner, and take our evening trip up to the NICU to feed the babies. What I really want to do (after baby time of course) is rent a movie, eat some cookies, and pretend that my life is “normal”. But we are always so darn tired when we get home. I am so very grateful though. No complaints here, really. Just trucking along.

Hope your girls can come soon! In the mean time, keep resting so you are as healthy as can be and ready for them!
